Academy of Sciences Nightlife + best birthday cupcakes ever!
Posted on May 10, 2010 by Kris Nelson
One of my birthday celebrations this year was blown up at the Academy of Sciences Nightlife, where on Thursday nights, one of San Francisco’s premiere museums is turned on a dime into a crazy nightclub with DJs, stilt walkers, and tons of tipsy, amorous party people.
The awesome part is that, well, see above statement, it’s super fun doi, it’s only $10-12 admission (free within seven days of your birthday; regular adult admission is $24.95), there are telescopes set up on the living roof, you get primo access to current exhibits and planetarium shows, and you get to see truly magical things like the ghosted underbellies of giant catfish and alligator gars as they float above you in the bridge tunnel beneath the darkened indoor rainforest. The iffy part is that you’ll hear many drunken archeological half-truths and random guys will hit on you while your hubbie is in the loo.
And I have the sweetest husband!!! Chris made me the best-est, awesome-est, moistest, sweetest, coolest, cutest cupcakes EVARRR!
They are so ambitious delicious: matcha green tea almond cupcakes with sweet sugar glaze and super neon marzipan decorations! Amazing! Yum yum!
