ANTM: There can only be Four

Last season of Top Model fizzled out for me very quickly when it became quite clear that the bubbly girl with the bob (Saleisha?) was going to win. I think I caught bits of two less than memorable episodes with a lot of screaming. This season is a little more interesting since there are group of nice girls who are strong from the get-go and it’s down to the final four of them (Katarzyna Dolinska, Anya Kop, Dominique Reighard, Fatima Siad), plus Whitney Thompson, the snarky one who looks like Anna Nicole Smith. Thankfully I’ve missed most of the drama scenes, which revolved around Lauren Utter’s attitude and culinary clumsiness (cutting off the tip of her thumb with a kitchen knife). She seemed so awkward and shy at first that I felt gypped when she revealed her true colors, ranting and swearing up a storm. I’m not going to miss her (she was eliminated last night).

I’m thankful that Anya is undoing part of the damage Renee (cycle8) did to the image of the Aloha Spirit, although she was from Maui and all the islands bolster different personalities, Maui being a little uppity (so I’m told). Anya is so happy and sweet and ditzy that I’m rooting for both her and Fatima Siad, who is from Somalia, looks like Iman and had genital mutilation, so aside from the sympathy factor, she is gorgeous. Katarzyna is also sweet and Dominique seems the most genuine… oh why can’t there be four Top Models?
