What exactly is it with Californians cutting down trees? It seems every time I turn around there’s another tree in the neighborhood wrapped in caution tape, a notice of pending removal tacked to its trunk. These people get annoyed with their trees in the springtime because the foliage tends to block their views of the street, the sidewalk, their neighbors’ houses, you name it. Come fall they decide the trees make too much of a mess, what with the pesky leaves and all. In winter the trees look ugly, and thus they seek to have them removed the following spring. Once summer rolls around they find their house too hot, the absence of the tree allowing their sitting room to bask in direct sunlight. The only solution? Install an air conditioner.
A vicious cycle of laziness and idiocy.
Just the other day I saw a wonderful bumper sticker. “The Suburbs – where we cut down the trees and name the streets after them.” Sad, but true.

I also think it’s funny how Californians run from the “rain” and bust open their jumbo umbrellas even though it’s just a drizzle.
I love California, so like anything you love, you have to take the idiosyncracies to fully appreciate it. I just think it’s funny that a state famous for it’s granola hippies seems to hate Nature.
hippies huh? *finds giant golf umbrella*
