Clash of the Titans Remake
So Variety has reported Warner Bros is now going to remake Clash of the Titans. Isn’t it terrible that you have to refer to an increasing number of films in terms of “the original” and “the new one”? Hell, even The Wicker Man is being remade, sans Willow’s song and dance no less. Anyways, the original Clash of the Titans was one of both Kris and my favorite films as we were growing up. I think we must have seen it at least 18 times between the two of us. Now, instead of a Harryhausen animated scorpion and Medusa we’ll have amazing CG effects that will look dated within a year! Ooooooh boy!
Anyways the film’s script is set to be scribed by Travis Becham, an industry newcomer with two upcoming productions to his name. With no established, viewable track record yet, I can’t say whether this remake’s prospects of being a worthwhile film look any good…but time will tell.
Here’s to continued corporate cannibalizing and mainlining of cult films for two weeks of guaranteed box office returns! Blech!
