Okay, so it’s not helmed by Sierra, but the look is strikingly similar. Check out the ImagiNationand MyTopia menu screens below. See the similarities? Pretty hard not to, I’d imagine.

Regardless, ImagiNation Network was one of my favorite pre-internet hotspots, and I’d be more than happy if MyTopia could recreate some of that magic. I’ve signed up for MyTopia using my Dreamlogic email address, but I haven’t been able to play or configure anything. All changes to my avatar result in a server connection error. Maybe they’ll implement boogers as well? Who knows. More info as I test this out later.

Also, if you’re interested in testing out the old ImagiNation software, check out the ImagiNation Revival Project.

*Update*
So I’ve been testing out MyTopia, and I actually quite like it. The games all look slick and take a minimal time to download. Furthermore, none of the games crash my browser like yahoo’s old Java games (it’s worth noting that Yahoo has finally updated their online chess game.). The avatar creation system needs a bit of work, however. The system pales in comparison to the old TSN/INN avatar creation system, with everyone choosing from MSN style peg people, a limited choice of hairdos, hats, clothes, and backgrounds. No eyes to choose from, but there are sunglasses. People on MyTopia are pretty chill, with no one shouting about pwnage, delivering threats or whatnot.

In addition to MyTopia, I’ve also been checking out INN revival. I absolutely love it, but there’s hardly anybody online at any given time. Yserbius has a bit more people, and therefore a bit more of the classic INN vibe. Case in point: last night a knight named Bluelite helped me rocket from a level 0 to a level 9 in just an hour’s time. Awesome. If you want to play, my name there is Hurga.
