Gehry: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Lunch at the MoMA

dreamlogic.net's ARTICLE . Fishy Frank GehryAt first glance, buildings designed by the King of Deconstructivism Frank Gehry are not exactly synonymous with phrases like “beautiful” or the first choice for designs for jewelry mogul Tiffany, but at second glance, they can be sweepingly graceful like a Mobius cutout. There’s no denying that they are, to say the very least, dramatic. His designs are not my favorite, although his more recent commissions (i.e: The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao Spain, pictured right) and the EMP (Experience Music Project in Seattle, personal photos to come) win my vote for ballsy and are actually quite efficient interior-wise/spatially.

Although I never would have thought Gehry would show his softer side, I attribute it to his obsession with fish. He actually debuted a jewelry line at Tiffany’s.. I wasn’t kidding about that.. one of which includes his swishy fishies which resembles his enormous meshy fishy sculpture at the Port of Barcelona (pictured below).
