Tu Viện Kim Sơn Monastery — Mt. Madonna pt. 2

Hey now let us take you on a virtual tour of Mt. Madonna, where, sprinkled along the summit, melting into the redwoods, lie three intriguing points of interest…
The Tu Viện Kim Sơn Monastery is performing some serious upgrades. Their new meditation hall is of a generous, modern design (we felt it disrespectful to photograph the monks) and pristine 9′-20′+ tall stone statues greet you at every turn (and there are more piled up near the entrance, presently supine, awaiting their placement).
A large koi and algae abound pond sits off to one side while a cutely carved mini-mountain allows visitors to shoko (Buddhist prayer/incense offering — I don’t know what the Vietnamese word for it is, sorry) to an effigy within.
