Boutique gourmet grocery store gets recognized! Home of “two buck Chuck” (Charles Shaw wine for $1.99) and crazy wicked cool chalk drawings (pictured left), Trader Joe’s was listed as one of the best grocery stores in the US by Consumer Reports magazine.. #2 to be exact, following close behind Rochester based chain Wegman’s.

24,000 participants voted for their top shops, ranking service, cleanliness and the quality of perishables. This is a wonderful turn of events as late last year Consumer Reports rated TJ’s detergent the absolute worst out of the 29 that were tested because it’s organic no-enzyme formula was great for the environment but didn’t get rid of all the stains. Ironic when you juxtapose the grooming habits of hippies and dry-cleaner addicted industrial execs.

The featured poll will be in the October issue of Consumer Reports, available to the public tomorrow. Chris and I are lucky to live within 10miles of three TJ’s; find your closest Trader Joe’s.
