So today Steve Jobs unveiled to the world that Apple will not only be in your car, in your pocket, but in your living room. Before thoughts of a creepy Big Brother invasion wash over you, just remember that Apple is neither the Patriot Act nor Microsoft. But Apple wants to rule the world, mwuahahaa. Well, maybe just the entertainment gadget world.
The teeny little “iTV box”, which will most likely go through a name adjustment before it’s proposed production release early next year so as not to breech a war with the existing Independent Television station, is well, teeny. For visual flavor, let’s just say it’s a mac mini that’s been anodized and smushed; it’s silver and small. It comes with a remote control that’s just as postmodern cute, of course. The unit has wifi capabilities, plugs into your tv, dvd player or receiver, and will probably be about $299.
It’s a shame it won’t be available for Christmas, but I’m sure it will be well received. Apple has seen a sharp incline this past year when it started with five networks and can now boast 40 signed channels. Now with the added ability to download movies through iTunes, I’m sure the masses will be itchy with desire. They’ll just have to cool off that desire for just a few more months.
lol. Too cool hun. Great stuff!
