So this rumor has been leaking and dripping and spilling over for almost a year now (maybe more, I’ve so fallen off the Tech Train ohno!). The rumors escalated around Andy Rubin’s presence on the Google campus. Andy Rubin (don’t feel bad because I didn’t know who the heck he was either) is a co-founder of Danger, the company that brought people closer together (with sore thumbs) with their Sidekick creation. His last mobile-phone software OS company Android had previously been bought out by Google, so fly rumors fly!
Orange (mobile/telecom) and HTC (PDA and smartphone specialists) were also rumored to be in on the deal, with plans to create a Blackberry looking phone with lightning fast browsing capabilities. New rumors pit HTC against Samsung as supposed Google bedfellows, but who the heck knows? The last Google rumor about creating their own line of PCs was completely debunked.
*drool* google phone. it’ll probably cost a bundle, though. *sigh* but a girl can dream…
Another “me too” effort from google. Why am I not surprised? If google ever did anything original they MIGHT be worth talking about.
Google said it wasn’t real, but they could be lying.
I’d like a google phone, if it was free.
