Are they or aren’t they? Quit teasing us already! The debate is still on about whether or not Toyota is going to unleash a new Supra as early as October 2007. Hardcore enthusiasts have heard everything from confirmation and legitimate photos to No, sorry but the Supra is dead forever and you’re actually getting worked up over photos of the new Toyota FT-HS Roadster.
Either way, with the Japanese automaker heading to topple GM as the crowned King of Cars, it would make sense for them to step it up in the one field they haven’t totally recently dominated (mainstream-wise at least): the sportscar. Even without the trademark inline-6 and rather normal looking lines (nothing at all like the Batmobile-looking Nürburgring-track-tested prototype most likely intended for the new Lexus LF-A). Aaand, if the rumors are true, they just might steal some of Nissan’s thunder with their upcoming Skyline GT-R.
The proposed prototype has some realistic specs: the convertible model being a 3.5 liter V6, which is the same as the Lexus IS 350 and GS 350, but will deliver 350hp and 275 ft-lbs of torque because of rigidity issues. The coupe will be a 5 liter V8 (450hp and 383 ft-lbs torque). Price speculation places the latter at anywhere from low $40K to $68K, with the soft-top 10K less, even as low as $30K. Wha-what-what?? I’m not so sure about that one, but it is ultra-affordable Toyota.
Personally, I think if it’s not an I6, it prooobably isn’t a Supra, but being a Toyota cheerleader I’m still so stoked about it. Woohoo! Go go Toyota!!

had no idea you were a car buff. learning something everyday!
bring back the japanese ’supercars’ i say.
interesting, but i bet its fake, like alot of japanese products
You mean Chinese products.
If it is real, the Toyota Supra will be VERY real.
