Is Universal really Universal?

I was at lunch today, when I noticed a “Universal Cleaning” truck with a logo not unlike that of Universal Pictures. This started me thinking. If Universal is indeed intending to portray itself as the Universal film company, why is their logo merely a view of the earth from space? Shouldn’t the focus be further out? A view of the Milky Way, perhaps? As it is, the current logo seems to convey “Global pictures.” But, I guess with near 100 years of films under their belt they wouldn’t be likely to change that. Just a thought.

  1. Chris,
Still around but spent the last week in Cape Cod on vacation
and last night ended up getting horribly loaded and singing that awful song by Paula Cole (you know, the opening song for Dawson’s Creek) at karaoke. Anyway still plan to post, but have to motivate myself. Glad you and Kris had a great time at NYC!
