Atebara Gourmet Taro Chips — munchies review
If you like crispity kettle-cooked type potato chips, you’ll love Atebara Gourmet Taro Chips. And you’d have to at over $5 per bag before shipping (if you purchase them here online to the Mainland via airmail). Even though “kettle-cooked” to me usually means “hard as hell”, these are thin enough to be pleasantly crispy but sometimes burnt.
While I personally think taro root sucks up too much oil to taste good, I occasionally like to try different brands out. I think I have yet to find one that is better than homemade, where you can slice it just a bit thicker and you can actually taste the bland starchiness accented with just the right amount of salt to taste. Atebara Gourmet Taro Chips are good, but gourmet? I guess I prefer my taro chips “ghetto” then.
