I’m sure Caffé Macs (Apple’s eatery) was attempting to be set itself apart from all the other Silicon Valley Corporate Cafés by adding an extra “f”, or maybe they did that because that’s what the food deserves. Okay, that was harsh, but clever, no? And wait, isn’t caffé Italian for coffee? Just gotta be different, eh Apple?
I usually hit up their made-to-order gourmet, thin-crust (sometimes burnt), wood-fire pizzas, but the pizza man with the mustache is so intimidating that I often forget a topping or two, or else I take a billion years to order as I stare cluelessly at the choices. Their calzones are humongous, sweet-crust crescents filled to the brim with veggies and ooey gooey cheese, but a little steep at ~$9, but yah, that’s fair for their size. There’s also a build-a-burrito bar, packaged sushi, and free iced tea and apples.
As you’ve heard me complain previously, the salads here are weighed, despite the thick glass dish they provide, and they will try to charge you 50 cents for five pieces of spinach, saying they were trained to count that as a “side salad”. If you’re a sweet-talker like me (just kidding!) you can surely talk them out of it. The cashiers here are either grumpy as hell or bursting happiness. Usually it’s a team of the former, unfortunately. Not sure why they’d be so angry.. maybe they need a free apple, if you get my meaning.
NOTE: Caffé Macs at Apple Computers Headquarters in Cupertino is not open to the public. You must be an employee or a guest of an employee to dine here.
