Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite gourmet grocery stores and I’m there every week. They always have some exotic new treats to try and Chris and I dive right into the goodies. This time, we picked out an ornately designed shiny metallic orange package of “Papadums, an authentic Indian style snack”.
“Traditionally,” the bag tells us, “papadums are thin, spicy chips about the size of a tortilla.” The Trader Joe’s version are bite-sized yummy thin discs made from potato and fava beans, that heart-clogging palm oil and a whole gamut of starches (potato, tapioca, pea protein, and the ever-”healthy” modified food starch). These incredibly light crisps are so incredibly light that you won’t notice how many you’ve actually downed. It’s non-oily texture and generous dusting of spices give it an earthy zesty kick.
We tried the “tandoori masala”, which was loaded with chili, garlic, tomato powder, sugar and paprika. It’s sweet and savory and smells as good as it tastes! If you get high walking through an Indian market, sniffing all the spices, I’m sure you’ll agree, but I know this flavor volume is not for everyone. Ha, all the more for me! :)

LOL. Awesome, hun. You know, I hardly got any of these! But, from what I recall, they were quite good. Good stuff!
