Official Blade Television Series Teaser Site Live
I love Blade. “Dude’s incredible.” The first Blade film is probably my favorite superhero flick (Spiderman 2 doesn’t even come close). The second film, while not as good, still had some amazing action. But, after the amazing trainwreck that was Blade Trinity, I was pretty sure we wouldn’t be seeing any more Blade entries, be they theatrical, DtV, or otherwise. Imagine my surprise upon hearing Spike TV’s announcement of their first scripted (not counting Wrestling) television show based on the Blade franchise. Sadly, Snipes won’t be filling the shoes of the daywalker on the small screen, but I think it could possibly be worth a look. There’s no way it could be as bad as Trinity….could it?

The basic storyline is thus:
The series picks up Blade in his hometown of Detroit focusing on taking down the Vampire House of Chthon. As one of the most powerful houses, Chthon has vampires and ‘familiars’ (humans who wish to be vampires) in key positions at every level of society from politicians to beat cops. When Blade and his partner Shen arrive in Detroit, the House of Chthon is in the early stages of a plot that will increase their influence over the other vampire houses and might even destroy Blade in the process. In the series, Blade becomes partially responsible for the turning of Krista Starr from human to vampire. Krista, a recently-returned Iraqi war veteran, is ‘turned’ by a senior vampire in the House of Chthon named Marcus who was also responsible for the murder of her brother (a human informant in the House of Chthon working for Blade). The power hungry Marcus turns Krista, then takes her under his wing as his protégé. Krista is now torn between the two powers that drive her new reality, waging a battle between her dwindling human instinct to help Blade and the ever-increasing thirst to go over to the dark side. To help Blade in avenging her brother’s murderer or give in to Marcus, the seductive vampire and her newly anointed ‘mentor’. As for Blade, he must battle his own demons: save the girl he was responsible for turning, or risk her by using her to destroy the House of Chthon. Along the way he also must battle demons from his own past – some of them former friends – who remember Blade long before he was the preeminent vampire hunter.
Here’s hoping this one’s good. Check out the official teaser site here.
