Ooh, I want to see this! Zodiac

dreamlogic.net -- Zodiac -- he said, she-said -- movie review -- screener! Okay, forget that it has cuter than cute Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead and the resurrection of the awesome awesome Robert Downey Jr, Zodiac is about one of my favorite psychological-plumb topics: serial killers. And it’s in one of my favorite cities: SF.

I’m not sure how well it will pan out, but with David Fincher at the helm, it is guaranteed to be a serious almost OCD kind of dark and mysterious chiaroscuro-scape. Maybe it would be better if it were a bit meatier and messier, say if Kiyoshi Kurosawa directed it, but on second thought, the nonfiction bit wouldn’t mesh. At any rate, it’s pretty ambitious and I’m interested to see how Mark Ruffalo fits in with this cast, wearing a bevy of bowties no less. Adam Goldberg is also in it, and he always makes me laugh.

Zodiac. Based on the actual case files of one of the most intriguing unsolved crimes in the nation’s history. As a serial killer terrifies the San Francisco Bay Area and taunts police with his ciphers and letters, investigators in four jurisdictions search for the murderer.

Zodiac opens March 2nd. Watch the trailer here.
