Our Government is just a little more “hip”

Yahyah, break it down now *wacky dance sequence*

Well, maybe “hip” isn’t the right word, but I hope we see a lot of change in the U.S. government now that a series of first-time achievements are being logged. Er, first, Nancy Pelosi (CA, Dem) is the first female Speaker of the House. Pelosi was the first female nominated for the position back in 2003, but Republicans wanted none of that, and her victory was breached by 27 votes.

Keith Ellison (MN, Dem) is the first elected Muslim congressman, and although he faced a lot of scrutiny and disdain for it, he insisted on being sworn in with the Koran. That was not as bad as the heat he felt for refuting Minister Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism and being outed as a Nation of Islam member.

And of course, it is the first time in 12 years that we have a Democratic Majority, even though there seems to a friction-filled chasm already forming between the “old bulls” and the liberal newbies. This may be just an overblown conspiracy thrown out by an angry GOP reporter, and political analysts aren’t too concerned about it, so I hope they will be able to work together to follow suit on their purposed agenda.

Okay now feel free to boogie.
