RIP John Hughes

by Kris August 6, 2009

dreamlogic.net -- RIP John Hughes John Hughes, the writer-director who literally defined “teen” in the 80s with gems such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink (my personal anthem, above), passed away from a heart attack during his morning walk. He was visiting family in New York. He was only 59 years old.

When I mention John Hughes is one of my favorites, I always preface it with, “you’re gonna laugh but…”, but he really knew how to package angst and joy into a highly palatable presentation. He never beat you over the head with a moral, and yet, it was infused into every aspect. Hughes’ humor was sharp, his gift for entertainment unique, his soundtracks: awesome. We lost a great one today.
