Sarah Connor cancelled, Dollhouse renewed (with caveats), but Seeker still going strong
According to i09, Sarah Connor Chronicles has been officially axed, while Dollhouse is getting a new creative direction, a lower budget, and is still damned to Friday nights.
Now, Sarah Connor’s fate I’m only a little surprised about. It was a decent show, but prone to Lost-style filler. I’d stopped watching somewhere in the first handful of episodes of the second season, and never even knew about its switch to Friday nights until the season was almost finished. Still, with the release of the new Terminator movie (this weekend, in fact), I figured Fox would be smart enough to give it at least one more season.
As for Dollhouse, Kris and I only managed to capture one episode the entire season (we’re never home Friday nights) but what we did see was quite good. A new direction and lower budget I’m a bit wary of, but at least the show’s been given some room to grow.
But my favorite show is still going strong. Yep, Legend of the Seeker has already been greenlit for a second season. If you haven’t checked out Seeker, you really should. I know some of you won’t check it out due to it’s Xena/Hercules stigma, but it’s the only show we’ve watched consistently this 2008 – 2009 tv season. Furthermore, this is the only show on this list whose loss I would truly be bummed about. Here’s hoping for a dvd release sometime in the near future.
Legend of the Seeker’s season 1 finale hits next weekend (Saturday or Sunday, depending on your locale. We catch it Sundays at 7:00 on Action 36). Be sure to check it out.
