Wow. Sometimes the DVD gods just smile upon you, you know? Kris and I were pondering checking out Spider-Man 3 this evening, but something told me to go check an infrequently visited Fry’s instead. And boy, am I glad we did. I snatched up the whole Jodorowski Films box set, featuring Fando Y Lis, Holy Mountain, and El Topo for just $14.99. I have no idea why it was priced so low, but I don’t expect to see that ever again. Also, I picked up Tokyo Shock’s restorations of the Female Prisoner Scorpion films in a cheapie box set. Tokyo Shock has been releasing a bunch of these sets lately, but only recently have they released the Scorpion box. It features Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion, Female Prisoner Scorpion: Beast Stable, and Female Prisoner Scorpion: Grudge Song, all for just $24.99. Sweet!

But, enough about my good fortune. Here are some deals you might be interested in:

1. AnimEigo is offering Arcadia of My Youth for just $7.95 on their website. There are also some assorted Samurai Cinema releases that go on sale periodically for about $10. Check it out here.
2. This weekend Fry’s has that bulky “Limited Edition” box set of Spider-Man 1 for $9.99. It comes with that doc featuring Kevin Smith and Stan Lee.
3. Tokyo Shock has a bunch of other Sets available now, for about $14.99 each at Best Buy. These include a few Cannibal films, Chinese martial arts sets, and Japanese film sets, notably one featuring Black Angel 1, 2 and Pistol Opera, one collecting the Gonin films, one collecting the Kunoichi films, and another collecting the whole Ken Watanabe Baian: The Assassin series. Again, all just $14.99. To make things easy, just check out the list of Tokyo Shock titles here. Again, most of what’s listed there can be found even cheaper at Best Buy.
