Caught this video on YouTube Today. It depicts a women’s soccer match between Korea and China, and a pretty blatant case of cheating. The video itself has all the necessary explanation, so just jump on in and watch below.

Just counting down the time before China kills us, kills us ALL*! One way or another, it seems inevitable. And it seems so easy for them to do it too. Why?? Because we let them that’s why!! Greedy companies fail to investigate and inspect the Chinese companies they import from or else they are willingly in cahoots so that everyone’s pockets get fatter. Not only are there unhealthy working conditions but water and air pollution and – okay, just the fact that it’s IMMORAL should hoist red danger …

So google.cn now redirects to google.com if accessed in the US via a Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 browser. Perhaps this is intended to prevent less net-savvy (aka: non Firefox using) American internet users from easily comparing the radically different sets of results for human rights, democracy, and bird flu related searches after upgrading to the new “safe” browser? On a side note, we’ve seen a minor drop in traffic since we first started talking about Google/China stuff, and last I checked a number of Dreamlogic.net pages were missing from Google.cn. …

Ahhh, remember the days when only the Superpowers possessed nukes? The fun and frolicking Cold War times when America could really focus all of its hatred and aim all of its WPM on (basically) the Soviet Union. Back when you had an enemy you could count on. *sigh* Those were the days.
Nowadays we have to mambypamby yo-yo and tiptoe around multiple countries and still seem to come out without a solution nor a resolution. America seems to be hanging on the bottom rung lately.. or at …

China is on the fence again.. this time with Iran and N. Korea and a whooole shitload of oil. If China sides with Iran this time, they may just lose their chance at remaining buddies with N. Korea in the future, but their natural resource dependency is, well to say the least, all consuming. What’s an uber-wasteful backwards-proletariat government enforced-CO2 producing country to do? To sanction or not to sanction, eh?
And while gas prices bump, American financial analysts are even quicker to cover it up, boasting last …

Three good articles today. Looks like the recent ruckus made by web users in the wake of the major search engine’s money grubbing kowtowing to chinese censorship policies has caught the eye of bigwigs in the capital. To help preserve “the greatest purveyor of news and information in history”, Josette Steiner, a State Department trade expert, is seeking to form a task force to ensure that flow of information stays as it is.
And in other news the House has strong words for those tech companies whose ‘nauseating collaborations’ with …

Yah, I know. Another China article, but this one is very interesting.
I just received some news about a Chinese Military manual, published a full three years before 9/11, that suggested acts of terrorism, such as the bombing of the world trade center, as methods of combating the United States.
From Cryptome:

Published prior to the bombing of China’s embassy in Belgrade, the book has recently drawn the attention of both the Chinese and Western press for its advocacy of a multitude of means, both military and particularly non-military, to strike at …

First cases of Asian Bird Flu found in a commercial poultry farm in Nigeria. Teams are investigating; so far they’re unsure if any humans have been infected.. certainly they have been exposed to it. Officials blame illegal imports.
Contrary to what the Chinese Govt would like to have the world believe, Asian Bird Flu is spreading and has killed in Turkey (no pun intended), the Balkans, Northern Iraq and is currently touring around Europe as we speak. Oh and by the way, the virus has already mutated. Not …

… China’s supposed efforts to environmentally reform Beijing in time for the Olympics? Also, their halted plan (or, rather, the US pressuring them) to raise the value of the yuan may make Target enthusiasts (not to mention Chinese farmers) weep. And does democracy really matter when you’re dead? According to Nostradamus’ Fatima, China is going to start WWIII.

I just got a couple links from Steve and aL.
First, Steve pointed out this flash comic by Mark Fiore of SFGate.com. The cartoon addresses some of the latest news developments with American Search Engines forays into China. You can watch the cartoon here.
Secondly, aL has pointed out an article on Digg regarding a simple URL hack to display full search results in Google.cn. I have a feeling this won’t work in China due to the Great Firewall, but it’s worth a shot. You can find the Digg entry

The China myth has lured many an American business in the past, with its promise of billions of consumers with wallets waiting to be tapped, Google being the latest to take the bait. Though many have tried to make headway into the market, on the whole most have had nothing to show for it. For example, name one thing that is manufactured in the US that the Chinese actually buy. On the other hand, name one thing in your house that wasn’t made in China.
In an effort to …

Falun Gong, a group promoting wellfullness of the Mind, Body, and Spirit through a series of meditations and exercises based on Taichi and Quigong practices, has been barred from performing in San Francisco’s Chinese New Years festivities by the organization in charge of the event. Falun Gong members have performed, and won multiple awards, in the parades of years past, however this year the Chinese Communist Party has pressured the event coordinators, some of whom share strong ties to the CCP, not to let them participate.
It’s no secret the …

What is it about the number seven that makes for a successful action tale? Take for example Seven Samurai and its remake, The Magnificent Seven, Seven Years in Tibet… Okay, maybe not that last one. Part Seven Samurai, part Lord of the Rings, Seven Swords, the opening film of the 62nd Venice International Film Festival, is an epic tale of good versus evil in the most hopeless of times. At a surprisingly breezy 151 minutes, Seven Swords is jam packed with stunning imagery and heroic deeds. It is easily one …

Jackie Chan has been in more than his fair share of misses these past few years. The Tuxedo. The Medallion. Shanghai Knights. Even his HK effort, The Accidental Spy proved more than a little disappointing. After being mired in Hollywood purgatory he made his triumphant return to Hong Kong cinema in last year’s New Police Story. Fresh, dangerous, and fiercely kinetic, New Police Story gave fans everything they had been missing. To say I was looking forward to Jackie’s next HK venture after viewing New Police Story would be an …

From the Associated Press:
Although it features an almost entirely Asian cast, Rob Marshall’s Memoirs of a Geisha has evoked anger and calls for a boycott among some of those who have seen advance screenings of the film in Japan and China, Reuters reported today (Monday). According to the wire service, some Japanese are outraged that the leading roles in the film are played by Chinese actresses Ziyi Zhang and Gong Li and Chinese-Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh. On the other hand, some Chinese are upset that Chinese film stars would …

This is from the alternative meats aisle at the chinese grocery. We saw it, chortled, and bought. It is one of the foodstuffs built mainly on tricking the palate with texture rather than good or exact taste. It is also evidence that certain companies who create meatless options are baffled, often sneaking in “fish paste” for “vegetarian” patties.
True, this is not intended to be a standalone dish, probably setting hopes on adding it to “vegan” broth flavored with beef bits to continue the contradiction. …
