Earlier this year Iain Stott of the One-Line Review challenged a group of over 150 internet film critics to help come up with a list of the top 100 films not on standard best-of cinema lists (Your usual Goddard and Truffaut staples were almost completely off limits). Kris and I were lucky enough to be two of the participants, and after months of deliberation and voting, the results have finally been posted. The lists from everyone proved wildly diverse, with each participant submitting up to 100 films for consideration, and ...

Betcha the Olympics committee wonders why oh why did they allow San Francisco, unabashed political arena, to be the only American point on the torch relay route dubbed the “Journey of Harmony”.
Extinguished in Paris (oft joshed at for their cowardice), many cringed at the thought of what Bay Area pro-Tibetan protesters might do to the torch and/or its bearer. On Monday, a few experienced climbers scaled the cables of the Golden Gate bridge to hang protest banners, which were promptly removed within a few hours.

So in the interest of cleaning out my queue, this past weekend I decided to kick back and watch a few bargain flicks I’ve picked up over the past year, but haven’t had time to watch. Sadly, with most of these I would have probably been better off had I left them in the queue. For those of you who relish bad reviews, enjoy. This set was so bad, I’m dubbing it my “weekend of pain.”

I’ve always bought way too many shoes, but only recently I’ve been actually wearing them like a girl and not a guy, which means I’m not just wearing one favorite pair until they basically fall apart anymore. Oh what a joy it is to cycle! For the longest time, those other “unchosen” soles would be tucked away in the closet, waiting for their chance to see sunlight and be worn to death. Seeing all the unworn shoes ...

As he puts on his most serious face, info screens à la Power Point cut in, informing us that in 1995, the Hong Kong music industry revenue was $1.68 billion, and in 2005 even though 40 new singers were signed on, profits dropped to $700 million due to piracy and file sharing. In 2005, Daniel Wu and three of his buddies decided to take on the Hong Kong music scene ...
