For those of you who think that George W. Bush is the first president to willfully attack a foreign country to rake in the spoils under the guise of protecting America, be aware that there were many before him… they were just sneakier.
In 1970, Salvador Allende was the first Socialist to be democratically elected; the 29th president of Chile. Not only was he a Socialist, but also a Marxist, with strong liberal opinions and radical revisions steered towards an …

Hoo boy it’s time for another News Cap! Man, I wish I had the time to write these every day! Truth is stranger than fiction.
John Kerry, the most unpopular man in the Nation. “You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” This is the statement that got everyone’s shorts in a bundle for some odd, mystifying, GOP-domineering way. …

Ahhh, remember the days when only the Superpowers possessed nukes? The fun and frolicking Cold War times when America could really focus all of its hatred and aim all of its WPM on (basically) the Soviet Union. Back when you had an enemy you could count on. *sigh* Those were the days.
Nowadays we have to mambypamby yo-yo and tiptoe around multiple countries and still seem to come out without a solution nor a resolution. America seems to be hanging on the bottom rung lately.. or at …

Hey so the other day my friend emails me with the usual polite morning intro “wut r u doing?” and so I’m like “Worrying about Iran.. what else?” I don’t think that’s what he wanted to hear, but how can you ignore it when it’s driving gasoline prices up and up yet again. More importantly, now springs up yet another blatant impending boiling enemy packed with new and improved nuclear power pointed at us US us!
Here’s what seems to be our current Foreign Relations Policy.. pretend to be buddy-buddy, then …

Just found this on Google Video. Sure, it may be just another tinfoil hat documentary (some of the issues it brings up have been debunked. Or have they?), but it’s still quite interesting and helps promote a healthy skepticism in regards to government policies. Either way it’s far more interesting than the trash propaganda piece that is United 93.

China is on the fence again.. this time with Iran and N. Korea and a whooole shitload of oil. If China sides with Iran this time, they may just lose their chance at remaining buddies with N. Korea in the future, but their natural resource dependency is, well to say the least, all consuming. What’s an uber-wasteful backwards-proletariat government enforced-CO2 producing country to do? To sanction or not to sanction, eh?
And while gas prices bump, American financial analysts are even quicker to cover it up, boasting last …

Three good articles today. Looks like the recent ruckus made by web users in the wake of the major search engine’s money grubbing kowtowing to chinese censorship policies has caught the eye of bigwigs in the capital. To help preserve “the greatest purveyor of news and information in history”, Josette Steiner, a State Department trade expert, is seeking to form a task force to ensure that flow of information stays as it is.
And in other news the House has strong words for those tech companies whose ‘nauseating collaborations’ with …

First cases of Asian Bird Flu found in a commercial poultry farm in Nigeria. Teams are investigating; so far they’re unsure if any humans have been infected.. certainly they have been exposed to it. Officials blame illegal imports.
Contrary to what the Chinese Govt would like to have the world believe, Asian Bird Flu is spreading and has killed in Turkey (no pun intended), the Balkans, Northern Iraq and is currently touring around Europe as we speak. Oh and by the way, the virus has already mutated. Not …

The China myth has lured many an American business in the past, with its promise of billions of consumers with wallets waiting to be tapped, Google being the latest to take the bait. Though many have tried to make headway into the market, on the whole most have had nothing to show for it. For example, name one thing that is manufactured in the US that the Chinese actually buy. On the other hand, name one thing in your house that wasn’t made in China.
In an effort to …

Falun Gong, a group promoting wellfullness of the Mind, Body, and Spirit through a series of meditations and exercises based on Taichi and Quigong practices, has been barred from performing in San Francisco’s Chinese New Years festivities by the organization in charge of the event. Falun Gong members have performed, and won multiple awards, in the parades of years past, however this year the Chinese Communist Party has pressured the event coordinators, some of whom share strong ties to the CCP, not to let them participate.
It’s no secret the …

If you don’t want kids to encounter any sort of objectionable material you’d have to home school them, prevent them from using the internet, prevent them from interacting with other kids, and prevent them from viewing the nighttime news, which, incidentally, also happens to be the number one place for viewing of ads for Cialis and Levitra.

People can make a difference.
In an unexpected move yesterday afternoon, the House of Representatives approved a measure to restore $100 million of funding for NPR, PBS and local public stations.1 Republican leaders were proposing to slash $200 million from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, but you helped stop them.
Everyone said it was impossible to reverse any of the House cuts with Republicans in control. Yesterday’s Washington Post described the divide between Democrats and Republicans like this:
“[O]n Capitol Hill, it’s hard to find a Republican with anything nice to say about …

I was watching the MacNeil Lehrer news hour last night and learned of this attempt by the right to cut funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, due to it being an “unchecked liberal playground”. How is it a playground for the liberal viewpoint? The republican stooge featured on the program kept citing NOW with Bill Moyers and a show where a rabbit had two mothers, preaching tolerance of alternate lifestyles. The thing is, Moyers hasn’t worked for the CPB for over a year. NOW is currently headed by someone …
