SFX artist Yoshihiro Nishimura and screenwriter Kengo Kaji (Tokyo Gore Police, Eko Eko Azark 3) are at it again, this time with a tale of a female Samurai doll who exacts vengeance via her eleven deadly weapons, concealed, naturally, within her flesh. Expect another dose of ultra-weird body modifications, projectile flesh, and ultraviolent absurdity.
Check out the trailer (complete with subtitles) below:

New Jim Jarmusch! Time to celebrate! Isaach De Bankole, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and a revenge plotline? I can’t wait. I’m feeling a bit tired tonight, so here’s the plot description from Quicktime.com:
The new movie from filmmaker Jim Jarmusch (”Broken Flowers,” “Down by Law”) is set in the striking and varied landscapes of contemporary Spain (both urban and otherwise). The location shoot there united the writer/director with acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle (”In the Mood for Love,” “Paranoid Park”). Isaach De Bankole stars in the lead role for Mr. Jarmusch; this …

I remember trying to get people to see Donnie Darko with me while it was in its theatrical run in the city. “What? A movie about a talking bunny and time travel? With Patrick Swayze and the Bubble Boy? No thanks.” You can lead a horse to water, but can’t force them to drink, right?
Anyways, now that everyone and their mother has seen Donnie Darko, I’m sure you’ll actually want to check this one out. It’s an end of the world tale starring The Rock, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Justin Timberlake, …

It’s time for another trailer rundown.
Nana 2 . The next installment of the rock drama starring Japanese pop star Mika Nakashima. I haven’t yet seen Nana 1, but Nakashima’s actually a pretty good singer, so I am somewhat interested. Trailer here.
Smoking Aces . The latest in hitmen comedy, Smoking Aces looks about as fun as it is violent. The film’s being hyped enough as it is at other sites, so I’ll just leave it at that. Trailer here.
Curse of the Golden Flower . Yet another trailer. I still maintain that …

Kris and I first discovered Katsuhito Ishii with Sharkskin Man and Peach Hip Girl and Party 7 a few years back. Most of you probably know him from the Anime segment in Kill Bill Vol. 1. But, however you may know him, it’s obvious the guy has a wealth of talent, and is surely one director to keep an eye on in the coming years. The trailer for his latest film, Funky Forest: The First Contact, is now up and man, does it look crazy. Lots of cool talent in …

So another Mission Impossible 3 trailer is up. To be honest the film looks pretty bad. The dialogue is wince-inducingly terrible, and with J.J. Abrams at the helm I’m afraid it will be about as interesting as watching paint dry. And then there’s the pseudo-physics. I used to complain about people flying too much, but that’s nothing compared to people flying sideways from explosions occurring directly behind them. The film does have one saving grace in the form of Maggie Q. But then again you could just drop $4 at …

Wow, so Intermedia and C2 film group, those responsible for releasing the colonic mass that was T3: Rise of the Machines, are set to unleash their latest bomb, Basic Instinct 2. The trailer is up, and damn does Sharon Stone look ….old?
You know, it’s really a shame what happened to her. Her downward spiral started with The Quick and the Dead, then she ruined her hair, then she suffered an embolysm, then she agreed to Catwoman. The experience has been more than taxing on her, and she now looks a …

This trailer for Silent Hill is tres cool. I don’t have much time to write about it, but it looks like they’ve got monsters from the first and second game in there, and they look damn good (No Nemesis crappyness). I don’t know about the lead actress, but I think Avary’s script and Gans direction should make this one a cut above the other videogame films out there.
Check out the new trailer here.
