MacGruber’s got it all: kooky comedy, awesome explosions, a ponytail-ed Val Kilmer villain, Ryan Phillipe reprising yet another military-related role, elements of An Officer and a Gentleman, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and more importantly, 70s hair! (Okay, not like gross exaggerated belly hair like in the above photo from the promo trailer, but where else would a crafty hero hide his pennies, I ask you). All directed and co-penned by the adorkable Jorma Taccone from The Lonely Island fame.

It’s been a while since our last film review update, but to be completely honest, we haven’t seen all that much worth talking about. For every meeting with a film of quality we’ve suffered through countless hours with with mediocrity the likes of Wrong Turn 3, Men Who Stare at Goats, and The Informers. Still, there are some things worth recommending.
Shotgun reviews and trailers follow.
The Road
Not quit the action film I thought it was going to be, but nonetheless interesting for it. A quiet, meditative, surprisingly hopeful take on the ...

Here’s the latest HD trailer out for the much awaited and/or much hated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time due out next May. With raunchy innuendo and tons of combat and parkour and glooorious physics-and-logic-defying special effects, Disney and Bruckheimer create something awfully similar to their former Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Except this time, there’s sand standing in for water.
I refuse to reduce Jake Gyllenhaal to the blockbuster beefcake he became; to me he will always be the self-aware sweetie who reads Herman ...

Chris and I love a good prank. Not as much as we used to, being the sweet, upstanding citizens that we are now… wait, why are you laughing? Anyway, it’s only a prank if it’s on your best buddies and there are no hurt feelings, right? Or else you could start the whole nation following your evil doings online like College Humor’s Amir Blumenfeld (of Jake and Amir) and Streeter Seidell, who are well-known (over 5 million views) for their Prank War, which became rather personal.
Now, the ...

Since when are Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law (L-R, above) interchangeable? Since October 16, when Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus will be unleashed in theatres. The quartet take turns portraying Tony, who was loosely based on former British prime minister Tony Blair, who, says Gilliam, “would say the most insane things and probably he’d believe them himself”. Doctor Parnassus also stars Tom Waits and Verne “Mini Me” Troyer and upcomer Lily Cole, who is also slated to be Alice in Marilyn ...

Tron Legacy
Okay, you’ve heard the hype. This is in case you haven’t yet seen the hype. Disney goes “ca-ching!” This is some effects test footage; not an actual trailer, but still undeniably slick. I never made it through the original movie (oops, this isn’t a remake? Looks quite similar)… I’m actually more excited about Daft Punk doing the soundtrack!!
