The Chrono Trigger Anime
Over the Christmas break Kris bought me Chrono Trigger on the DS. Even though the game was originally released almost 15 years ago, and the fact that I’ve played the majority of it multiple times through, it still grabbed me from the getgo. I lost hours to the game! If you haven’t picked it up, I highly recommend it!
But back to the subject of my post. In revisiting Chrono Trigger I got to thinking about an anime title in my collection: Chrono Crusade. The title logo was similar to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, but the story was about a nun and a demon…I was a bit confused. So I did a little research. Chrono Crusade didn’t have anything to do with the Chrono Trigger universe (just more sneaky ADV marketing), but there was indeed a Chrono Trigger anime. And best of all, it’s available online!
Now, the anime is only 20 minutes long, and something of a spoof entry, but it features all the trademark music from the game, and thus, is identifiably “Chrono Trigger”. The story focuses on the game’s monster roster rather than the heroes, and takes place at a monster millenial fair….I’ll leave it at that. It’s a bit weird, and maybe not all that good, but still worth a look for Chrono Trigger fans.
