This Friday: Gambit! Finally!

An X-Men related movie finally got it right by featuring astonishingly overlooked (and in my opinion the best mutant of the series) Gambit! Now, my college buddies and I weren’t comic book freaks, and my only knowledge of X-Men is a handful of episodes of the colorful Saturday morning cartoon, but while most of the guys worshiped the testosterone-addled antics of jumpy, angry, lonely Flock of Seagulls’ coiffed Wolverine, I preferred the composure of gentle Beast, and the suave, graceful je ne sais quoi of gentlemanly Gambit.
I know he just throws cards and that sounds so lame, but, according to wikipedia, he can actually control/transmit kinetic energy to objects at will, which is so cool. I can’t explain fully why I would be drawn to his character above all others, but that’s why they call it “je ne sais quoi”, right?
Otherwise unknown Taylor Kitsch (Snakes on a Plane, Friday Night Lights) portrays Gambit (pic above, far left) in the highly anticipated action extravaganza X-Men Origins: Wolverine opening this Friday. I’m not sure this guy is the best fit for the part, but the exciting news is that Kitsch is signed on for three X-Men films; which means three X-Men films starring Gambit! Finally!
Also special appearances by a Hobbit, a hip-hopper, and Van Wilder, as Dominic Monaghan, Will.i.Am, and Ryan Reynolds play electrified Bolt, teleporting John Wraith, and regenerative Deadpool respectively.
