Trailer Park: Nihon Chinbotsu — Death Note — Brave Story — Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles

by Chris July 12, 2006

Nihon Chinbotsu – Japanese disaster film. The official plot outline from IMDB states ” Japan will sink down to the deep sea. The governments only hope is evacuate all Japanese to some other countries.” Wow. If that doesn’t grab you, I don’t know what will. Stars Kou Shibasaki (Battle Royale, One Missed Call), so maybe I have your attention now. Official site here. Trailer here.

Death Note – Demons and killer chain letters? Sounds good to me! Tagline: “The human whose name is written in this note shall die.” Stars Tatsuya Fujiwara (Shuya of Battle Royale I and II). A sequel is already in the works. Trailer here, soundtracked with Red Hot Chili Peppers latest song no less.

Brave Story – New Anime adventure film. Some of you are probably interested. It’s from the director if Ninja Scroll, X, and A Wind Named Amnesia. I have no idea on the plot as of this writing, but it looks to have some Tremors 2 like critters, marine life-people and more. Check out the trailers here.

Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles – Finally Zhang Yimou gives up the pretentious Kung-Fu film and returns to the heartfelt drama. This one stars Ken Takakura of Abashiri Prison fame. Looks like a grade A tearjerker. Check out the trailer here.
In other news, I’ve been watching Ashura this week (in short spurts between other duties). I should have a review up this weekend.
