Trailer Tuesday — Peter Jackson Triple Threat
Posted on May 24, 2011 by Chris Nelson

I thought these three picks would be a bit too mainstream for Trailer Tuesday, but I realize the more I talk to people, most have never heard of Peter Jackson’s classic crazy flicks.
You see, way back in the day, back before he became greedy, skinny, and pretentious, Jackson made modest horror films that were high on gonzo fun and crazy special effects. These films rank as some of the best midnight fare known to man.
Bad Taste
Shot on weekends over the course of five years, Peter Jackson plays three parts at different weights. The plot concerns a group of aliens who come to earth in hopes of turning humans into intergalactic fast food.
Meet the Feebles
You know the Muppets. These are the puppets from the other side of the tracks. Pimps, prostitutes, drug dealers… it’s totally not for kids, and completely wonderful because of it.
Dead Alive
Peter Jackson’s zombie comedy features a virus spread by a Sumatran Rat Monkey, a kung fu priest, a zombie-chopping lawnmower, farting disembodied intestines, and the craziest zombie baby ever. Cinematic gold, I tell you.
But hey, just in case you’ve seen all of these, my backup pick was Tsui Hark’s Time and Tide. Made in 2000, the film still ranks as one of my favorite Hong Kong action films ever. I’ve watched it numerous times, and totally recommend it.
