Who’s on Top? Jaslene’s on Top! ANTM Cycle 8 finale

Sooooo.. it was down to rancorous Renée, sassy Jaslene and naïve Natasha. I don’t have much to say this season.. I liked Natasha’s bubbly attitude even though it was completely devoid of humility, but Jaslene took the best photos. I’m not sure why self-proclaimed “Cha-Cha Diva” seemed like she was on valium as opposed to her vibrant audition, but maybe she was trying not to get her hopes up too high after being nixed for the Cycle 7’s final cut? It is a nice “perseverance pays off” moral this season though, isn’t it?

In a way I wished that someone a little less emaciated won this year, especially after the statement Tyra Banks was attempting to make by including two plus-sized models and with a high percentage of women hungering (pun intended) rather than be perturbed by Nicole Ritchie’s starved dungeon prisoner look. I’m just glad that embittered Renée or wimpy Brittany didn’t win, although I did feel sympathy for them for a wee little bit. But the Top Model has to be strong — empowering young women all over the place.. that is until they seemingly fall off the edge of the earth and we never see them again.

Were you happy with the winner? And do you think Gina ruined any chances for an asian fashionista to rise to the Top or will we see some crazy high knifeblade cheekbones come September in Cycle 9? All I know so far is that the (secret) International destination is Berlin, Germany. Voll krass (that’s cool) if they sich nicht aus seiner Bierruhe bringen lassen (keep their cool).
