Yes, still alive: Shannyn Sossamon

Holy crap.. Shannyn Sossamon’s the lead for the One Missed Call remake due out in January 2008. She is also starring with one of my favorite actors and hotties, Desmond Harrington, along with Ileana Douglas and Lara Flynn Boyle in a new movie called Life is Hot in Cracktown about (doi) coke addicts AND another film as the lead with Vinnie Jones and Christopher Lee called The Heavy.

Miss Sossamon was also in a movie with Eric Roberts in 2002 and one with Michael Madsen (bleh) and one with Ashlee Simpson (bleh bleh) and Fisher Stevens and Carrie (Princess Leia) Fisher in 2005. Oh the range of suck! Sossamon was also recently in The Holiday with Cameron Diaz/Jude Law and Kate Winslet/Jack Black. Here I thought she gave up acting after Devour.

So who the heck is Shannyn Sossamon? She’s the cute cute cutie DJ turned actress with the funky choppy hairdo and is prone to lip-biting who was the darling of 2002 (in Chris’ and my book anyways), which is when she starred in Rules of Attraction and 40 Days and 40 Nights, and The Order the following year. I also just found out (thanks imdb!) she was born in Hawai’i (wootwoot); not surprising considering her ethnic mix of French, Hawaiian, Dutch, Irish, Filipino and German.

This one sounds pretty interesting: Wristcutters: A Love Story … the tagline is “An Offbeat Comedy, A Love Story, A Road Movie - But Everybody’s Dead!” She’s one of the leads with I think that guy from Almost Famous and oh Tom Waits is in it too. Can’t say I dig his music, but Tom Waits is cooool. Wristcutters came out last year, so hopefully we can snag it somewhere… somewhere where others have heard of Shannyn Sossamon and know that yes, she’s still alive.

  1. I remember her from 40 days and 40 Nights. That was another movie that had just about everything a movie needs. I still wonder how they did that scene where the main guy sees all the women topless on the street? If I can find out, I’ll be sure to do that in my own movie.
