Yo-yo Girl Cop (aka: Sukeban Deka 2006) — in SF for one week only!

I don’t know how I didn’t hear about this earlier. Today starts the one week special engagement of Kenta Fukasaku (Battle Royale 2)’s Yo-Yo Girl Cop (aka: Sukeban Deka : Kôdo nêmu = Asamiya Saki ), the latest in the Sukeban Deka series of movies. Now, if you’re not familiar with Sukeban Deka, you really should acquaint yourself (Check out my review of the first film, here, and the second, here). The series focuses on a group of school-girl secret agents, the leader of which is armed only with a steel Yo-yo. And this is no simple Duncan yo-yo. No sir-ee. This is the kind you can take out helicopters with. If you’re in the area, check it out. I hope to have a review up this weekend.

Yo-Yo Girl Cop, or Sukeban Deka : Kôdo nêmu = Asamiya Saki, plays nightly at the Landmark Opera Plaza theater (we met Greg Araki there!) at 4:30 and 9:35pm, July 13th to 19th. Go see it!

Update! Check out my review of Yo-Yo Girl Cop here!
