If you live in the Bay Area you’ve probably heard of film reviewer Jan Wahl, or even had the misfortune of catching her weekly segment on the KRON 4 News. The woman is terribly uninformed, thickheaded, loud, stupid. I can’t stand her. I don’t know how many times she’s mangled the names of alleged favorite films (”That movie. I love it. Inside John Malkovich. Have you seen it?”), or simply butchered well known film facts. But, she’s got a hat gimmick, and people seem to like that. Still, if you’re a real film fan you don’t take anything she says to heart.

Now, I may not have liked Tarantino’s past few films, but this was a nice clip to see. Quentin was promoting Kill Bill vol. 1 and ended up doing a guest video interview on the KRON 4 News. Quentin starts to say some cool passionate stuff, then loud Jan interrupts. A bit of a spat ensues. Too bad dense old Jan seems completely unphased at the end of it. Regardless, hats off to you, Quentin.

  2. LOL.. I don’t like Tarantino either, but this was pretty darn funny. I love how the newscasters nervously shuffle their papers afterwards.

    Tarantino can be relatively smackable at the best of times but Jesus Christ… Whilst I never advocate violence on women EVER, I have to move the boundaries of that statement in order to fulfil an overwhelming desire to kick that women in the face!

    I know… I’m sorry… Back to Anger Management I go!

  5. Jan Wahl, my God. Really a disgrace to the field of film criticism, even her hat gimmick isn’t original (Hedda Hopper did it first, and Jerry Lewis made fun of her for it). She was at a screening I went to at the San Francisco International Film Festival this year, and I sort of spat in her general direction.

    And Tarantino rules, of course.

  6. Ah, Fernando. If you farted in her general direction, you could have seen if she picked up the Monty Python reference….though she would probably call it something like Montel Anaconda….Sad, stupid lady.
